Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog - Laundry Day (My Freeze Ray) |

Apparently shortly before we arrived at this exhibit this tiger was attempting to fuck with a giant turtle in that water and lost horribly. I'm very disappointed I missed that.

| Twin Skies Stuff: Freebies and Fan Comic! |

The powers that be sent some of the Twin Skies fansites some encouraging schwag. Here’s one of their unboxings:
And then a fan drew up a comic with me in it O_o

I think after this, I’ll put my burn and dodge tools to rest for a while. I abuse them. Happy presumptive birthday, Oliver. And Mannino’s in the corner there because I am his uber fan. <3
Uhoh!

Max Brooks - World War Z |

While taking this picture, I believe I caught the flash of someone else's camera...thus making the saturation and whatnot somewhat odd. I think it's kind of neat.
Also, Tyler went home today. Surprisingly, neither of us felt very sad. There are a lot of things to be done on both ends, and there are plans for me to visit he and his family during the holidays.

Despite these little waves of homesickness that wash over me in recent days and this one no exception, today was pretty lovely. The wake-up at seven could've left me more rested, and the incessant high-pitched bird noises didn't help (seriously it's like a very tiny Piccolo Pete firecracker going off every morning) but everything got off to a good start with a nice relaxed bike ride to work when it wasn't so warm out. The day was spent as it has been- mostly shelving and organizing books, but this time listening to punk instead of surfer pop via Pandora which made it feel a little more energetic but still devoid of stress. Biking home, it was rather warm, reminding me that August ain't over yet. I made a bang-up dinner out of brown rice, the last quarter wedge of Kabocha squash that had miraculously preserved itself in my fridge for a week, the first jewel-like Brussels sprouts of the season, a little olive oil and soy sauce to sauté. Doesn't sound too excited, but it looked beautiful and tasted damn good, too. Talked to Ben, and Megan, and my parents. Now because my internet connection is kind of slow, I'm just going to kick back with the 2009 Ikea catalog, watch Amélie since I can't go see it tonight in Portland at the Broadway Metroplex, and sip on my personal version of the decarli cocktail I love so much, but with the even better Crater Lake Vodka from Bendistillery than the Ketel One they originally use. Even though I'm watching a French film tonight, the warm breeze coming through the window begged something more cool and refreshing, and if this is what I should be drinking in the summer then I suppose I can't ask for fall just yet.
